UMI-Sci-Ed is a Horizon 2020 project, which aims at enhancing the attractiveness of science education and careers for young people (14-16 years old) via the use of latest technologies. We put Ubiquitous Computing, Mobile Computing and the Internet of Things (UMI) into practice towards enhancing STEM education while increasing the attractiveness of pursuing a career in UMI domains.
Technological institutions (CTI, CIT, CUBIT) and uni-versities (University of Helsinki, Norwegian University of Science and Technology and Univer-sity of Pisa), are core participants and partners. Telecentre Europe, a pan-European member asso-ciation, supports the partnership in communication activities.
High school teachers and students, teaching institutions, researchers, stakeholders and actors on education and learning methods and systems, experts and industry companies or individual professionals in Ubiquitous, Mobile and IoT (UMI) technologies, career consultants and policy makers are welcomed to the Communities of Practice (CoPs) that are developed within the context of UMI-Sci-Ed project.
Join our efforts towards innovative learning methods that boost youngsters to think creatively, apply new knowledge in an effective way and raise their motivation in science education.
Because UMI technologies are changing our lives. Because UMI-Sci-Ed aims to develop a collective, experiential and open digital educational environ-ment for teachers and students, that will allow students to understand, use and develop UMI applications and consider their societal implications; improve digital and UMI skills of teachers; stimulate students to envision a future career in UMI techno-logies; facilitate exploitation of UMI technologies for society's own good; get youngsters ready for UMI technologies and bridge the gap between society and research community by enabling citizen-centric policies in research and innovation.
Because UMI technologies emerge as educational use and learning objectives.
